Thank you for your interest in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County Program.
Our mission at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County is to create successful one-to-one mentoring relationships for children ages 6 to 14 who need and want them, leading to brighter futures, better schools and stronger communities for all.
Volunteers (Bigs) cultivate relationships that provide children with skills to manage every day challenges. Through simple friendship, Bigs experience the joy of helping children discover a world of possibilities and opportunities.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and can participate in one of the following programs:
Bigs provide Littles with one-to-one time and attention in their communities, typically four hours or more per month. During these unstructured outings, Bigs provide opportunities for Littles to enjoy the companionship of a caring adult outside of the home and school in various community, sporting, cultural, and educational activities.
This is just like a “Traditional Community-Based Match” except a child is matched with a couple. To apply for a couples match, please complete one copy of the enclosed/attached application for each partner.
School-based mentoring is a way for busy individuals to volunteer and for companies to give back to the community. In the school-based program, companies typically allow their employees to volunteer one hour of their work week during the academic school year, by providing Littles with one-to-one time and attention in their school.
To volunteer for either the school-based or community-based program, please request an application
